The Instructional Leadership Academy (ILA) is a year-long professional development program for instructional specialists, assistant principals and deans in the Transformation Zone.
Transformation Waco partners with the Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) to provide spaces for leaders to inspire and empower each other to turn challenges into opportunities in their schools, as well as create a pipeline for advanced leadership positions within Transformation Waco.
Through the ILA program, school leadership team members learn, practice and plan alongside one another to develop shared student-centered instructional leadership skills. Participants work to improve their leadership, observation and coaching skills to build stronger relationships and support for all teachers. They self-evaluate their strengths and areas of opportunity as school-based leaders. Participants also identify a problem of practice within their school community to explore during the school year. At the conclusion of the ILA, they share a broader strategy of improvement related to their individual problems of practice with their colleagues through a culminating capstone presentation.
