An Immersive Evening of Science, Spirits & Community

Transformation Waco, the non-profit that operates the Bledsoe-Miller STEAM Center, is launching a brand-new event series — The Science of Spirits.

This inaugural fundraiser blends craft and curiosity: interactive spirit tasting stations paired with dishes from Waco restaurants, plus a behind-the-scenes look at the science that makes it all possible. Learn how distillation, fermentation, and flavor chemistry turn raw ingredients into something extraordinary — guided by experts and a few surprises along the way.

As the founding event in our ongoing "Science of" series, Science of Spirits kicks off a new tradition of bringing Waco together around the wonder of everyday science — while directly supporting Transformation Waco’s mission to connect students and families to the resources they need to thrive.

Event Details

Date & Time: Saturday, August 29, 2026 | 6:00–9:00 PM
Location: Bledsoe-Miller STEAM Center
General Admission: $100 ($90 for STEAM Center Members)
- Includes five alcohol tasting selections plus a mocktail. Choose from mini cocktails or a combination of their non-alcoholic counterparts at any of the six featured stations.
Designated Driver Ticket: $50
- Enjoy the non-alcoholic version of each featured spirit station, plus our dedicated mocktail experience.
Complimentary Beverages: Beer, wine, soft drinks, and bottled water will be available throughout the evening and are not counted toward your tasting selections.
Parking will not be available at the STEAM Center. The front entrance will be available for drop-offs only. Complimentary parking will be available at Heritage Square (311 Austin Avenue). Beginning at 5:30 PM, two City of Waco shuttle buses will provide continuous service between Heritage Square and the STEAM Center, with buses departing approximately every 10 minutes. Shuttle service will continue through 9:30 PM.
Attire: Come as you are! Whether you prefer cocktail attire, business casual, or jeans and a tee, we want you to be comfortable as you enjoy the evening.
Age Requirement: Guests must be 21 years or older to attend.
Tickets & Check-In: Your ticket and QR code will be emailed to you after purchase. Have the QR code ready on your phone when you arrive for quick check-in at the registration tables near the garage doors. Don’t have it handy? No problem—we can also check you in by name.

Please note: Each of our spirit stations offers both an alcoholic tasting and a crafted non-alcoholic version, ensuring every guest can enjoy the full Science of Spirits experience.
