Transformation Waco

Transformation Waco is a nonprofit, in-district charter partnership managing and operating four full-service community schools and supporting community needs.

A community schools strategy remains the backbone of our work. Our strategy provides an educational platform with an integrated focus on academics, youth development, family engagement and support, health and social services and community development that leads to improved student learning outcomes.

Signed in 2017, Senate Bill 1882 provided incentives to districts who chose to work with new and existing partners to promote innovation and improve student outcomes. Using this statutory authority, Waco ISD and Prosper Waco entered into a three-year partnership agreement in April 2018 to operate the five campuses of Transformation Waco.

Two primary benefits of entering into such a partnership are additional state funding for the partnership schools, along with a two-year exemption from specific accountability interventions. Additionally, this partnership reinforces the belief that students benefit when decisions about programming, operations, and services are made at the school level, backed by accountability for these decisions.
