free AfterSchool Academies

Programs include various enrichment topics, including gardening, leadership, art, STEM+, high-impact tutoring, homework assistance and a meal.
Calendars
Be sure to print the 2023-2024 Academic Calendar and take note of the year’s student holidays, early release days, bad weather, makeup days and reporting periods. And remember — attendance matters! Missing just two days a month means a child misses 10% of the school year. Start working on your plan to make regular attendance the norm in your household.
Bus Transportation
No registration is required for students to ride the bus. Verify route information online here.
School Meals
Waco ISD and Transformation Waco are on the Community Eligibility Provision with TDA (USDA), meaning student meals are free.
Adult and non-student meal prices will be available by September 1, pending Waco ISD school board action.
Dress code
Campuses follow Waco Independent School District-specific standards for General Dress and Grooming Code. J.H. Hines Elementary does have a uniform policy. Find all dress code standards here.
Tax-Free Weekend
Texas’ annual sales tax holiday is set for August 11-13. Most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100) purchased during the weekend are tax-free. Find more information here.
